#4 Presentation Mythstakes…
“Give them your credentials upfront”
Avoid! In the first 30 to 90 seconds of your business presentation an audience is not interested in you waxing lyrical about who you are and what qualifies you to be there! It’s not about you, it’s about them. From your first breath, engage them, pique their curiosity and get them feeling a credible connection with you and what’s about to unfold in your message. Ask yourself “what’s in it for them, if they were to buy in to my message?” or “what’s the most compelling benefit to them?” Help them get an early sense of the value they stand to gain from listening to you. The first 30 to 90 seconds are a critical success factor, so take special care when crafting your opening. (Your credentials can have a place later in the content where necessary)
